Security Settings for Cash App

Introduction

Cash App offers several security settings that can help you keep your account and transactions safe. By enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), using a strong PIN, and verifying your identity, you can protect your account from unauthorized access.

1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. With 2FA enabled, Cash App will send a code to your phone or email every time you log in or make transactions.

Steps to Enable 2FA:

• Open Cash App and tap the profile icon.
• Go to Privacy & Security and tap Security.
• Choose Two-Factor Authentication and follow the on-screen instructions.
• You will be asked to enter a verification code sent to your phone or email.

2. Set a Strong PIN or Password

Setting a PIN or password ensures that only you can access your Cash App account.

Steps to Set or Change Your PIN:

• Go to Privacy & Security from your profile.
• Tap Change PIN and follow the instructions.

Steps to Set or Change Your Password:

• Go to Privacy & Security from your profile.
• Tap Change Password and enter a new one.

3. Enable Touch ID or Face ID

Cash App allows you to use biometric authentication like Touch ID or Face ID for easier and secure access.

Steps to Enable Touch/Face ID:

• Go to Privacy & Security from your profile.
• Enable Touch ID or Face ID under the Security section.

4. Identity Verification

Verifying your identity increases your transaction limits and enhances security. You will need to provide personal information and documents for verification.

Steps to Verify Your Identity:

• Tap the profile icon in Cash App and go to Personal.
• Provide your full name, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your SSN.
• Upload a photo of a government-issued ID.
• Submit a selfie for facial recognition.

5. Review Linked Accounts

Only link your trusted bank accounts or debit cards. Remove any outdated or unused accounts to avoid any potential risks.

Steps to Review Linked Accounts:

• Go to Bank Accounts & Cards in your profile.
• Review all linked accounts and cards.
• Remove any outdated accounts by selecting Remove.

6. Enable Security Lock

Activate a security lock to prevent unauthorized access to your Cash App account. You can lock your account with your PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID.

Steps to Enable Security Lock:

• Tap the profile icon and go to Privacy & Security.
• Enable Security Lock and choose your preferred authentication method (PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID).
